Automation and Motion Control Account Manager- October 2017

This position requires a fundamental knowledge of mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, and control components and systems. Application knowledge in motion control devices, such as servo and stepper motors, screw and belt drive actuators, controllers and robots is a plus . Account managers make sales calls to assigned accounts in their exclusive territory utilizing their technical expertise and superior consultative selling skills to drive the specification and purchase of our motion control products. They are responsible for new account identification and development in their territory. The ideal candidate should be experienced with design and project assistance, basic knowledge of industrial controls and pneumatic and electric actuators. A successful history selling technical products is preferred.

This position entails both (a) pre-sale engineering and technical assistance to prospective customers, and (b) post-sales technical service to assist customers in selecting the right product(s) for the application. This role requires technical competence with motion controls and actuators and the ability to communicate technical information to engineers and procurement personnel.

Primary responsibilities are, prospecting for new clients, in suburban Philadelphia counties. Visiting existing customers to identify and develop sales opportunities for our varied automation products as solutions to customers’ applications, and sell components/systems to solve their applications. The Automation Account Manager is in a role that straddles the customer’s design engineering/procurement and our inside sales department.

Excellent writing and computer skills are essential. Likewise, strong phone and in-person listening and presenting skills are required along with the ability to be polite even in stressful situations. The ability to work efficiently on several concurrent projects is very important. The position requires high energy and enthusiasm; a fast, but well organized, diligent and careful work style; and good time and project management skills. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to perform and sell with minimum supervision are imperative.

Position requires a college degree, preferably in a technical discipline such as Engineering or Mechatronics. Previous experience selling fluid power or motion control products in the Greater Philadelphia or Mid-Atlantic marketplace is a plus. Attractive starting salary with bonus and potential for unlimited income.
